This whole situation is pretty tragic, and I really hope that what Guru’s nephew Justin Nicholas-Elam Ruff claims isn’t true, but something just doesn’t sit well with what’s going on here. Michael Vick is getting one more big check from the Philadelphia Eagles. The one after that still could be from a new team.

A person with knowledge of the contract said the Eagles will pay Vick a $1.5 million roster bonus due Tuesday.

The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the move hasn’t been announced. Paying Vick the bonus doesn’t preclude Philadelphia from trading the former Pro Bowl quarterback. Vick is under contract for $5.2 million this year.

The Eagles are buying themselves more time — and possibly a draft pick — by giving Vick the bonus. The alternative was to release him and not get anything in return.

It’s uncertain what Vick is worth on the trade market. His situation could be comparable to Daunte Culpepper. The Miami Dolphins traded a second-round pick to Minnesota for Culpepper in 2006. Culpepper was coming off a major knee injury.

Vick wasn’t injured, but he played sparingly last season after missing two years because he was imprisoned for his role in a dogfighting ring. He completed 6 of 13 passes for 86 yards and one touchdown and ran for 95 yards and two scores.

The Eagles already have Donovan McNabb and Kevin Kolb, and Vick has stated he’d prefer to go somewhere he can be a starter. Coach Andy Reid has repeatedly said he isn’t opposed to keeping all three QBs.

Comedian/Actress Mo’Nique won her first Academy Award for her role in the highly acclaimed film, “Precious” Sunday (Mar 7).

She accepted this great award with great humility and grace.

“I would like to thank the Academy for showing that it can be about the performance and not the politics,” she said with emotion. “To my amazing husband, Sidney — thank you for showing me that sometimes you have to forego doing what’s popular, in order to do what’s right.” [ABC News]

A week after the Philadelphia 76ers’ Allen Iverson announced he was leaving basketball for the rest of the season to be with his sick 4-year-old daughter, the star’s wife filed for divorce in Fulton County Superior Court.

In the divorce petition filed on Tuesday, Tawanna Iverson said her 8 ½-year-long marriage to the guard was “irretrievably broken.” In the petition, Tawanna Iverson asked for temporary and permanent custody of their five children as well as child support and alimony.

She did not ask for a specific dollar amount.

The children range in ages from 17 months to 15 years.

Its been a three year battle for Snoop Dogg to get back into the United Kingdom after being involved in a altercation London’s Heathrow Airport. Immigration officials claimed that the rapper was a threat due to prior drug and firearm convictions.

Snoop took legal action against the ruling against him urging british celebrities like David Beckham, and Paul McCartney overturned. After urging officials to take into consideration Snoops work as a high-school football coach and appearances on family-friendly television shows the rapper has finally convinced two senior immigration judges that border authorities were wrong in denying his entry. The ruling was released on Monday giving Snoop Dogg to the green light to head back to Britain. 

This is BEYOND RIDICULOUS! There can’t be much worse of a FAIL here! I know its been over 10 years since D’Angelo put an album out, but come on….there has to be some groupie love left for him somewhere in NYC. I mean, u got $12,000 in your whip (couldn’t he hit up a strip club and get a “professional” at least?), and the best you can do is solicit a cop for some oral sex? After DJ Drama had Gucci Mane and Young Jeezy on the phone together and end the drama, it appears that the beef isn’t over after all. Apparently, there was a fight between the CTE camp and the So Icy Entertainment crew down in Atlanta. According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, the two squads got into it at Walter’s Clothing store, which caused the store to shut down for about a half hour.

The fight began when the Gucci Mane’s people walked into the store and saw Young Jeezy’s crew, according to a witness who works at the store. A spokesperson for the Atlanta police department also confirmed the fight.

“There was a physical altercation inside the location between several men.” One of the men produced a weapon “and as a result a private armed security guard of a local entertainer discharged his weapon.” The police detained Waka Flocka’s security.

A little history for the new school

It was a heck of a run. From 1983 until 1999, Freaknik — the college picnic that morphed into a sprawling street party — tormented, titillated and drove Atlanta to the brink.

At its peak in 1994 and 1995, more than 200,000 mostly black college students would flock to Atlanta, causing massive traffic jams as men would literally get out of their cars to taunt, videotape or grope women.

But by the time it ended in 1999, politicians and police had made movement in Atlanta so restrictive that for the students, Freaknik was hardly worth it anymore.

“I was disappointed by what it became,” said Sharon Toomer, one of the founders of Freaknik. “Its original purpose was to be an annual event to encourage camaraderie between historically black colleges. It was a rare opportunity for black college students to get together.”

During the 1982-1983 school year, Toomer was a freshman at Spelman College and a member of the D.C. Metro Club.

Before Jay-Z and Trey Songz hit the stage in Washington, DC for their storm across America in the Blueprint 3 tour, hip-hop’s first couple hit the White House to say hello to Barack Obama.  As reported yesterday, the Carter Adminstration met the Obama Administration, but now we got the photos to prove it.

Beyonce sang the first couple’s first song at the inauguration, and they have been friends ever since.  Hov campaigned relentlessly for the President during his campaign against Sen. John McCain, and has shown strong support.  We are not sure what Jay, Bey and company spoke about with the President, but I am sure Jay reminded him about 99 Problems…

Ben Roethlisberger has been accused of sexual assault.

A woman claims the two-time Super Bowl winning quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers sexually assaulted her early this morning at Capital City, a club in Milledgeville, Georgia.

The accuser claims Roethlisberger assaulted her in the women’s restroom.

According to law enforcement sources who spoke with TMZ, the star QB entered and then allegedly assaulted her.

Police have interviewed both Roethlisberger and the alleged victim, who has been treated and released.

Roethlisberger has NOT been charged with a crime yet.

Roethlisberger was involved in a previous civil suit regarding alleged sexual assault.

The Steelers are not commenting at this point.

Hmmmm….that’ fire was mighty suspicious. Lil Wayne can enjoy his freedom for a few more days. My guess is he’ll probably shoot another video.
