Charles Barkley weighed in Wednesday on a recent Twitter statement by LeBron James. Barkley, a TNT analyst and former NBA All-Star, said he hopes James remembers Barkley’s critical comments and called a couple of James’ more significant actions this summer “punk” moves.

“I heard about LeBron’s little tweet today that he’s remembering everybody who said anything bad about him,” Barkley said Thursday on ESPN Radio 103.3 FM in Dallas/Fort Worth. “And he said ‘everybody.’ Well, I want him to make sure that he puts my name on that (list).

“I thought that his little one-hour special was a punk move. I thought them dancing around on the stage was a punk move, and I thought he should’ve stayed in Cleveland. Him joining Dwyane Wade’s team was very disappointing to me.”

AKRON, Ohio (AP) – LeBron James finally thanked his fans in Cleveland on Saturday, making his first public appearance since he left the Cavaliers for the Miami Heat.

At his annual “King for Kids” charity bike-a-thon in downtown Akron, James addressed a friendly crowd of several hundred people who cheered as he took the podium.

“To the city of Cleveland, my fans in Cleveland, my fans in northeast Ohio,” said James, “I want to say thank you for the last seven years and the years that continue to go in the future.”

Then he repeated the thank you to Cleveland a second time, as if for extra emphasis.

“So I want to thank the city of Cleveland, also northeast Ohio, for all the great years that I’ve had,” he said.

AKRON, Ohio — Two days after Zydrunas Ilgauskas took out an ad in The Plain Dealer to thank the fans of Cleveland for their support, LeBron James placed a similar ad in the Beacon-Journal in Akron.

The ad, which runs on the back of the paper’s front section, also features photos of James from Akron events. One of the many Akron events James is involved in is his annual bike-a-thon downtown, which takes place this week. James will hand out 400 bikes on Saturday, then join a mile-long ride on South Main Street. In the past, the mile ride was followed by an eight-mile trek, but that has been canceled.

LeBron James was great for the Miami Heat but lousy for the staff hired to sell the team’s season tickets. With no seats left to fill, the sales executives lost their jobs Friday.

The Miami Heat easily sold out its season tickets after LeBron James announced he was joining the team. That turned out to be bad news for the ticket-sales staff, which the Heat fired Friday.

Now that the supply for [season tickets] has been exhausted we no longer require a season ticket sales team,” the Heat said in a brief statement Friday afternoon.

 

A team spokeswoman, Lorrie-Ann Diaz, declined to comment or answer questions about the firings, which one staffer said cost roughly 30 people their jobs.

Wow. Those Cleveland fans are still pretty bitter about Lebron jumping ship to South Beach. Some guy had the nerve to wear a Lebron James Miami Heat jersey to a Cleveland Indians game, so the fans gave him the treatment, alright. They had to escort this guy out the stadium, presumably for his own safety. ESPN reports:

A fan wearing a Miami Heat jersey of LeBron James drew the ire of the crowd at a Cleveland Indians game and was escorted out of the ballpark.

Fans in the left-field bleachers chanted obscenities and pointed at the man Wednesday night during the sixth inning of the game between the Indians and New York Yankees. Hundreds of fans joined in before security led the man out of Progressive Field. Read more
